Most cases need more than one form, so the real number is the total. These are the government fees only, using paper filing.
I-130 ($675) + I-485 ($1,440). Add the work permit ($260) and travel permit ($630) and it comes to $3,005.
I-130 ($675) + Affidavit of Support review ($120) + immigrant visa fee ($325) + USCIS Immigrant Fee ($235). The medical exam is extra and varies by doctor.
I-130 ($675) + I-485 ($1,440). Work permit and travel permit are optional extras, as above.
Form I-90 on paper, or $415 online.
Form I-751 on paper, or $700 online. One fee covers the children included on the same petition.
Form N-400 on paper, $710 online, or $380 with the reduced fee for household income up to 400% of the poverty guidelines.
For the full picture on each path, see how much a green card costs and what U.S. citizenship costs.
Renewing a 10-year green card costs $465 on paper or $415 online with Form I-90. The same fee applies to a lost, stolen or damaged card. There is no extra biometrics fee. If your card is a 2-year conditional card, you do not renew it with the I-90: you file Form I-751 ($750) to remove the conditions instead. More on timing in our green card renewal guide.
USCIS rejects a package sent with the wrong fee, the wrong form edition or a missing signature. The papers come back and you start again, often weeks later. Most delays we see start with a small mistake in the package, not with the fee.

No. USCIS fees are generally non-refundable, whatever the decision. That is why a complete, correct package matters.
Yes. USCIS now takes electronic payment only. Online filings are paid by card or bank account. Paper filings are paid by card with Form G-1450 or by bank transfer with Form G-1650. Checks are accepted only with an approved exemption (Form G-1651).
USCIS rejects the filing and sends it back. Nothing is processed, and you have to file again with the correct amount.
Some forms, such as the N-400, I-90 and I-751, allow a fee waiver request (Form I-912) for people with low income or means-tested benefits. Family petitions such as the I-130 do not.
